Random Acts of Kindess!!

Big thanks to Jazz at holmfirth Post Office for kindly arranging the return my amazon parcel despite it being outside normal hours. As a disabled wheelchair user, it actually takes a further day and great deal of planning just to ‘nip’ to the shop. The refund is now being processed!! It was a scorching hot day but Square Dog was due at the veterinary surgery for her annual examination. Maggie went by car, so I wheeled alone and met at local park where she could frolic in the stream. On my route I was stopped by a passing motorist, I lowered my sunglasses but still didn’t recognise the driver. He asked where Maggie was and explained that he followed my story and watched my episode of DIY SOS (over 4 years ago) Continuing my journey, I thought Howard  much this brief conversation had meant. Some people are very kind but others are afraid to acknowledge your presence.

A new chapter

There has been a great deal of trauma within our family during the last seven years since my stroke. Judith and I have admitted defeat on our marriage. I moved out of the family home to a bungalow not far away, earlier this year. Judith and I remain friends and she is a great support. Although there has been some incredible highs (DIY SOS and Maggie from Dogs for Good) the majority of the last 7 years has been filled with sadness! I have since discovered that all wasn’t actually well before my stroke and as a result have a painful look at the trail of destruction of broken relationships that i have left behind as i selfishly lived my life. I intend to apologise for any upset that i may have unwittingly caused and restart my life ensuring that I don’t make the same mistakes again!  ,fe

Buckingham Palace

An invite to a garden party at Buckingham Palace representing Leonard Cheshire disability was a honour and was as spectacular as you can imagine. Thanks to the gorgeous Black Dog enticing the royal family, Square Peg was able to meet the entire monarchy that was on display. With the support of the Leonard Cheshire Opening Doors project (Fiona and Lorraine) Tony and myself became their ambassadors, creating and developing SPA. (Square Peg Activities) We were the last leaving the palace, cheekily waiting for the corgis who had gone for a stroll! Leaving unaccompanied through the main Palace gates, sharing a joke with the armed Police Officers on guard. With the public snapping photos believing that we may be someone special, not a raggy lad from Holmfirth and created in leicester!
