A rush of blood to the head

Once again I find myself about to lose my temper, I find so hard to direct my frustration. Deciding that I wanted to be on my own, (with my square dog) this meant missing a family outing to the John Smiths Stadium. Instead I opted for a trip to Holmfirth where meant that I stimulated my football addiction whilst Square dog frolicked in the river. It was hardly Premier League quality but with 6 goals and a sending off before half time, it wasn't short of excitement.

Another dead phone

I have only had my phones glass repaired for around 3 weeks but yet again I managed to kill it. Not only did I managed to break the new screen but I wasn't content with that, so I also spilt a minute amount of liquid in the small hole. It would appear that electronics and coffee don't mix well, the phone is no more!

To complain or not to complain that is the question?

Debriefing my stay in rehab, it was worth considering if should complain. I feel that the centre has slowly crept downhill during the 5 years that I have been going. The staff were as lovely as ever but there was something missing on this occasion. I actually feel as so much of the therapy was half hearted. The doors into the garden were locked to prevent a long time prisoner trying to escape. I spent many afternoons drinking coffee in the local public house wondering if a sunny holiday would be of greater benefit.

medication toils

Generally when I go into rehab I get along better with staff rather than the inmates. However on this occasion I have developed a bit of banter with one or two patients. During medication distribution one of these patients would joking ask "if her tablets were the normal boring white ones?" This gave me an idea, I escaped the unit and headed for the nearby supermarket. After purchasing a bag of m and m's, my plan was underway. Checking that she could eat chocolate, I persuaded the nurse to distribute them as her usual medication. The nurse almost managed to convince me too as she explained they had switched suppliers but I managed to keep out of sight until the medication was consumed.

Mr motivator

Today was the first day of my enhanced respite,  I  had a double session of physiotherapy. Most of the physio was fairly straight forward, but it also involved being stood in a rather medieval looking rack, which should straighten my standing posture. After lunch I was due to have 'motivational therapy', this was unfortunately cancelled. However if it does what it says on the tin, then I don't believe I'm in need of any help anyway.  I have a great deal going on at the moment, I like being involved in challenging circumstances and I receive a great deal of support with my on-going projects.

calm before the storm

The weekend is now here and with no rehab the time does go by quite slowly, it does give me a chance to concentrate on myself though. I have plenty of administration and exercises to do. I like to have fun with the staff though, I think they like to share a bit of banter too. The unit is also the long term home for patient's from York with complex health needs. As I attempted to leave the building to go and have a coffee, the receptionist locked the doors as she must have thought that I was trying to escape. When I returned it gave me opportunity to reflect with staff on the progress that I have made since my last visit. Just the fact that I feel confident enough to enter into unfamiliar situations alone (I miss my companion, square dog!) and then order a drink is generally a step forward.

go to rehab

My carer is off on holiday, so like a junkie I checked into rehab. I like going to rehab, the staff are kind and I get a little pampering, I last visited around 10 months ago. I think that I have a good relationship with the staff. They appear happy to see me again, perhaps they're even happier when I leave? One of my favourites carers remembered that on my last visit I had declared that she was a special kind of carer, she was so pleased with the comment that she didn't hear my follow up quip that she was actually  a "don't carer!"
